"Imprisoned by our own Ignorance"?

This is the prompt for a poem I'm using for english class. Do you guys have any suggestions what I should write about, relevant to today's society, for example, how a lot of ignorant people actually believe Obama is a muslin, etc But I don't want it narrowed down to one topic, I want the poem to have lots of examples. :)
